    Washita Battlefield National Historic Site
    On November 1868, this is where George A. Custer led a surprise attack against the small village of Peace Chief Black Kettle. The battle that took place was a significant event in the outcome of the American Indian Wars that took place during the late 1800s. The site features a visitor's center and exhibits, as well as special events throughout the year. The site is about 3 miles west of Cheyenne.
